John “Coolhand” Rice was nominated for Road Captain-he accepted and was voted as the Road Captain.
Proposal from Group: One of the members brought to the group an idea to partake in “music medic.” Music medic is where we would go to a VA hospital and talk with disabled veterans to see which type of music they like. Pick out songs from that music, put it on an MP3 and give it to the disabled veteran. Music medic is located in Gilroy, CA. Website is musicmedic.org.
President: Brought up January’s ride and Purple Heart ceremony to Palo Alto VA hospital. Mentioned that he would like to continue doing rides like that. The ride was both fun and heartwarming.

First meeting of the new year
January 7th we conducted our first meeting of the new year, starting with breakfast and some fellowship. The meeting was called to order at 0845 with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our men and women stationed in harms way or who were no longer among us.
During the meeting we put out a lot of information concerning our new chapter and how we will conduct ourselves when we hold our meetings in the local VFW's and American Legion halls and so forth, instituting a Swear Jar fund (to which I the chapter commander was the first offender by using the term Hard Ass so I now owe the chapter a buck!) Keeps our meetings clean and on track and we have ladies present so it's just good manners.
We concluded the Chapter meeting at 00930 hours and immediately following we went on a Chapter ride with the intention of going around to the local bike shops in the area starting out in Seaside then riding over to Salinas and eventually stopping for lunch at the Toro Cafe right outside of Laguna Seca. Weather wise it was pretty much a perfect day, sun was bright and the temps were in the mid 60s and the roads were pretty clear most of the way.
All in all it was a great turn out and a great opportunity to meet with all the members and their wives (those that brought them) which made for a great opportunity to get to know each other better. As the Chapter Commader I would like to express my gratitude for the mass participation and hope that it continues for the future meetings going into 2012 so already the new year starts out with a bang!
Next Meeting TBA watch your email!
